Physical Activity: The key to good health!
Kentucky is the 3rd most sedentary state in the nation according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Sixty-eight percent of Kentuckians are classified as sedentary. That is, they don't engage in physical activity a minimum of 20 minutes on 3 or more days per week. A sedentary lifestyle increases the risk of obesity, heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and some cancers.
The Physical Activity Program's goal is to get the community up and moving through informational, behavioral, social, policy and environmental approaches to increasing physical activity.
