Bluegrass-Aspendale Teen Center

The Bluegrass-Aspendale Teen Center provides after-school, tutorial services, cultural enrichment programs, and summer programming for children of the historical Bluegrass-Aspendale community and the surrounding area. The Center is located at 330 Chestnut Street, at Greater Liberty Baptist Church.

Teen Center hours are Monday - Thursday, 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm during the Fayette County Public Schools year. During breaks and on records days, special events are often organized. Call the Teen Center with any questions concerning scheduling or special events.

The Center is available to students age 6 to 18. Students have access to computers and Internet service, a library, and a myriad of educational tools and resources.

There are four staff members who work one-on-one with the students as well as the student's parents and teachers. The staff also relies heavily on the services of volunteers to assist the students with their academic needs during the after-school, tutorial program. Adults interested in volunteering with the academic tutoring program should call Jessica Robinson, Bruce Mundy, or Anthony Wilson at 254-4633.

Our cultural enrichment programs are designed to be sensitive to the needs of all students. Activities include: community service projects, dance and art classes, concerts, theatrical performances, and field trips to historically and culturally significant locations.  Cultural enrichment programming takes place throughout the year.

Nutrition is a very important component of programming at the Center. A healthy snack is provided daily at the after-school program. We strive to make snacks and meals educational by introducing the students to a wide variety of new and different foods.

For more information about BATC and volunteer opportunities, please call Jessica Robinson at 254-4633 or 288-2485.
