Child Care Health Consultation

Child Care Health Consultation is a program designed to serve licensed child care centers and certified homes in Kentucky. It is a part of the “Kids Now” Initiative. Two public health nurses and one nutritionist promote health, safety and nutritional services to child care providers, parents, and children in Fayette County. Consultants assist child care providers with prevention of various illness in child care and work with the infectious disease nurse to provide on-going surveillance of diseases in child care.

Program goals and services include:

• Prevention of Communicable Disease
• Assistance in Developing Center Policies in the areas of Health, Safety, Sanitation, and Nutrition
• Classes for Children
• On-site classes for providers
• Monthly Child Care Provider Classes for clock hours at Lexington-Fayette County Health Department
• Tuberculosis testing at Lexington-Fayette County Health Department
• Playground Safety Assessment
• Bimonthly newsletter
