The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department is an independent agency under the Kentucky Revised Statutes, charged with the responsibility for public health in Lexington-Fayette County.

Our Mission: The Lexington Fayette County Health Department will improve the health of the community.

Our Vision: The Lexington Fayette County Health Department is a recognized leader in health promotion, health protection, personal healthcare, and prevention of disease.

The Health Department has numerous service sites throughout Lexington.  It is governed by the Board of Health .  The Health Department provides an array of services including general outpatient clinical care, dentistry, social services, epidemiology, school health, health education and counseling, nutritional education and counseling, restaurant and hotel regulations and inspections, and vector control.

The Health Department employs over 350 individuals. The annual operating budget exceeds $26 million. Funds originate from federal, state and local agencies, Medicare, Medicaid, contracts and other miscellaneous sources.
